McLean's wife stays on the move, lawyer says

In affidavits filed in Knox County Fourth Circuit Court, Eric McLean and his divorce attorney, Steve Sharp, allege former West High School student teacher Erin McLean is embarked on a rootless existence with a 19-year-old paramour.

"(Erin McLean) has been to California and then to Austin, Texas, staying in cheap motels and then moving when she is unable to pay the bills," Sharp wrote.

Attorney Bruce Poston, who is defending Eric McLean on charges that he killed Sean Powell, his wife's teenage student and lover, in March, said Tuesday Erin McLean has since surfaced in Boulder, Colo.

Sharp has been trying to serve Erin McLean with divorce papers since September to no avail in an effort to gain custody of the couple's sons, ages 11 and 8.

It was then that Erin McLean fled her mother's Nashville home with the boys after news surfaced that she had lied to get a job as a teacher at a private Christian school and allegedly tried to seduce a 17-year-old student.

Henderson talks about coming to Norman, OU

In 1967, George Henderson's faculty mentor at Wayne State University in Detroit told him not to pull up stakes and take a teaching position complete with $5,000 pay cut at the University of Oklahoma.

The state is full of rednecks and was a "second class place," the mentor told him. "You can do better," he advised. Besides, Norman was a known "sundown" town where African Americans were expected to be out of town by sundown or suffer the consequences. George and Barbara Henderson's children voted the move down.

Henderson didn't listen to the mentor or his children. On a plane, flying over the red-dirt Midwest headed to an Oklahoma interview, an inner voice took hold and Henderson made the decision to come to OU as one of the university's first African American faculty members.

Chinese manufacturer Penchan has done it! A 5.5 terapixel camera!

Who woulda thunk it? The Chinese company Penchan has developed a camera with a whopping 5.5 Terapixel resolution, or in layman's terms, 5,500,000 megapixels. Yes, really. We just got off the phone to Canon and Nikon and it's safe to say, they're petrified.

Conan Misses McDreamy Just As Much As We Do

Patrick Dempsey looked perfectly put together yesterday after a trip to the gym in LA but it's not as much fun as seeing him in his scrubs. Turns out that we're not the only ones missing our weekly doses of Dempsey. Conan O'Brien wrote in his strike journal that, with all of his free time these days he tried to read a book but got sidetracked because he was, "wondering if Meredith and McDreamy will ever work things out. They're so right for each other and yet so wrong." We couldn't agree more with Conan on that one and considering he's been chugging along without writers on his own show for weeks, at least he's there to help us fill the gap before Grey's returns.

Ready to roar

A: It's interesting that you ask that, because one of my sources just described Ma as having the leadership abilities of Chairman Mao.

He does have natural leadership abilities. Not only does he have the gift of telling a story well, but I have seen him mesmerize entire audiences at leading industry events. He can light up a room.

It might not be too much of an exaggeration to say that Ma has the charisma of Bill Clinton, the chutzpah of Richard Branson, the marketing genius of Steve Jobs and the fortune of Bill Gates. Ma is one of the few Chinese entrepreneurs with global impact.

Q: Ma's story is fascinating, isn't it?

A: Yes. He rose from a social outcast during Mao's China (because of his family's bourgeois background) to become an English-language schoolteacher and later a rich and famous Internet entrepreneur.

DirecTV still covets DISH

DirecTV is still interested in buying smaller rival EchoStar but doubts U.S. regulators would allow such a deal. The two companies tried to merge in 2002, but the deal collapsed under opposition from the Federal Communications Commission, which believed it would be anti-competitive.Mike Palkovic, chief financial officer of DirecTV, said a merger would be "desirable but not feasible" as the market environment had not changed.

"We'd be nuts not to look at it," Palkovic told Reuters. "But the regulatory issues haven't gone away." According to Leitchman Research Group, DirecTV has 55 per cent of the satellite TV market, or 15.1 million subscribers, and EchoStar Communications Corp. has 45 percent, or 11.9 million subscribers.

DirecTV said in February it was in talks with EchoStar to create a wireless high-speed network, which would put them in a stronger position to compete against cable operators and telephone companies that sell Internet, video and phone services.
