Find your Digital Rebel's inner Holga

If you love the look of pictures taken with the Holga —those cheap, plastic cameras made in China—but don't want to deal with the oh-so-last-century idea of film, check out Holgamods' Holga Body Cap.

Randy Smith, the man behind Holgamods, has taken the lens off a stock Holga and grafted it onto a Canon body cap that fits all of the Canon D-SLRs, including the Digital Rebel series, the EOS 5D Digital, the new EOS 40D Digital, and even the top-of-the-line EOS-1Ds Mark III (it would probably fit any of the more modern Canon film cameras as well).

The result is pure plastic goodness without the darkroom. Like the Lensbaby (another of our favorite toys), the Holga Body Cap isn't an automatic lens. You'll need to shoot in manual mode, and set the shutter speed accordingly, but it's a lot of fun, and you end up those dreamy, variable-focus images that tell everyone you're just a little bit off-kilter.

Microsoft offers to buy Yahoo for $44.6 billion

Yahoo, in a statement, said its board will carefully evaluate Microsoft's proposal, which it described as unsolicited.

Microsoft expects the market for online advertising to almost double in size over the next three years, from $40 billion in 2007 to $80 billion by 2010. A merger will allow it to realize economies of scale and reduce capital costs as it addresses this market, it said.

“The combination of these two great teams would enable us to jointly deliver a broad range of new experiences to our customers that neither of us would have achieved on our own," said Ray Ozzie, chief software architect at Microsoft, in a statement.

Microsoft expects to cut costs by $1 billion a year by realizing synergies with Yahoo in four areas: obtaining economies of scale as its audience increases; combining its research and development efforts with Yahoo's to innovate faster; eliminating operational redundancy to cut costs, and pooling expertise to innovate in video and mobile.

Sizing up our tournament teams

Although not a polished offensive threat, White creates offensive opportunities with her defense and wreaks havoc on opposing teams' guards. White must avoid the foul trouble that sometimes plagues her due to the high energy level she plays with.

Tournament question mark: The bench. Teams in Div. 2 North will have a hard time matching Masco's starting five, and even though Bob Romeo has regularly played three or four players off the bench, only once has the bench been put in a position where it had an opportunity to win a game. In Masco's only loss — an overtime setback to Cardinal Spellman — both Stewart and White fouled out. The Chieftains aren't a dominant team with Stewart, White, or Burns spending significant minutes on the bench.

DANVERS>p> Record: 12-8

Starting five: Kellie Macdonald, Fr.

Leo and Bar Are Back (Her Especially) in Beachwear

Leonardo DiCaprio must be voting absentee, because right now he's living the good life with his hot girlfriend Bar Refaeli down in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It's almost a whole month since their last beach vacation, so it's understandable that he feels the need for another one. And it's not like it's any big secret why he would want to have his lady friend in a bikini as much as possible. It looks like while Leo was mostly enamored by his girl's assets, he also made sure to keep up to date on his BlackBerry and document his vacation on the digital camera. Most of all though, how much are you loving his beach hat?

Sampson's fate at IU ‘unresolved'

Late Thursday night, the Bloomington Herald-Times reported on its Web site that Sampson was out, citing an anonymous source and without going into detail.

But university spokesperson Larry MacIntyre denied reports that a decision had been reached. University officials did meet Thursday to discuss Sampson's future.

IU President Michael McRobbie on Feb. 15 gave athletic director Rick Greenspan one week to investigate alleged NCAA recruiting violations involving Sampson and his coaching staff.

If he is fired, Sampson could go through a 10-day appeals process. He could be suspended. Another option would be to hold off on a decision until the NCAA hearings on the violation take place in June in Seattle.

Greenspan's recommendation should come today.
